Primm, Nev. - The Nebraska men's golf team resumes its spring season at the Jackrabbit Invitational at Primm Valley Golf Course on Monday and Tuesday, looking to add to its recent success at the event.
The Huskers, who are making their third all-time appearance at the Jackrabbit Invitational, tied for fourth last spring, shooting 849. In 2010, Nebraska won the tournament with a score of 860.
Senior Scott Willman will lead the Huskers as the No. 1 player in the lineup. The Prairie Village, Kan., native earned Big Ten Golfer-of-the-Week honors after his tie-for-27th finish in the Huskers' most recent event, the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate. Willman's 72.78 stroke average in 2011-12 is the best on the team by nearly two strokes.
Jordan Reinertson will tee it up at the Jackrabbit Invitational, representing the No. 2 spot. The junior has competed in three events this season, including the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate, where he tied for 102nd. Reinertson's season stroke average is 79.33 in six stroke play rounds.
Playing in the No. 3 position for the Huskers is Ross Dickson. The freshman, who started every event for NU in the fall, did not participate at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate. Dickson has the fourth-best stroke average on the team at 77.60 in 15 rounds.
Manuel Lavin will play as the No. 4 in Nebraska's lineup. The sophomore is one of three Huskers to start in every tournament for the Huskers this season, along with Willman and Neil Dufford. Lavin's 74.61 stroke average is second-best on the team. He tied for 65th in his latest outing at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate.
Dufford rounds out the Husker lineup, representing the No. 5 spot. The junior has the third-best stroke average on the team at 76.61 in 18 rounds. He tied for 117th at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate.
Ryan Grassel will compete as an individual at the Jackrabbit Invitational. The sophomore will be playing in his third event as a Husker. He competed at the Big Ten Match Play before tying for 118th at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate. Grassel's stroke average is 81.00.
