Nebraska Hosts UNO at Devaney

The Nebraska swimming and diving team will host in-state rival UNO at the Devaney Natatorium at 5 p.m. on Friday evening, Nov. 11. The Huskers are coming off a fourth-place finish at the Holiday Inn and Suites Med Center Invitational held in Houston, Texas. Nebraska is 1-0 in duals this season after picking up a win over South Dakota State, 193-99, and hold a 14-0 all-time record against UNO.

The Maverick swimming and diving team have yet to win an event on the season. The Mavs (0-4) have losses to Air Force, Northern Colorado, Illinois State and Northern Iowa.

The Huskers are entering the final stretch of competition before the holiday breaks. Following the dual against UNO, the Husker swimmers will travel to the TYR Invitational in Evanston, Ill., on Nov. 18. The diving squad will then take part in the Iowa Invitational in Iowa City, Iowa on Dec. 2 before the U.S. Diving nationals wrap up the first semester of competition on Dec. 15.

Pool Points:

The Huskers finished in the top ten in fourteen different events during the Holiday Inn and Suites med Center Invitational. Alyson Ramsey (3-meter) and Hayley Martin (200-yard freestyle) earned Big Red's event best third-place finishes.

The Huskers will not compete again at the Devaney Center until Jan. 21, when they host Illinois for the first time as members of the Big Ten Conference. The Illini hold a 3-1 all-time record against Nebraska, and won last year's dual in Champaign, 185.5-109.5.

Last Time Out: Holiday Inn and Suites Med Center Invitational

The Nebraska swimming and diving team finished fourth at the Holiday Inn and Suites Med Center Invitational in Houston, Texas on Saturday afternoon. The event's third session ended with Arkansas winning comfortably with 1,135 points. The Razorbacks finished above Boise State and Rice, respectively. 

Hayley Martin finished third in the 200-yard freestyle for Nebraska. It was the Huskers' best finish on the day, along with Alyson Ramsey's third-place finish in the one-meter dive. Martin's time of 1:52.77 was less than a second off of first place (1:51.81). The Nebraska 400-yard freestyle relay team finished fourth in the 18th event of the invitational. Bailey Pons finished sixth in the 1,650-freestyle relay. 

The Huskers placed in the top ten in fourteen different events on Saturday. Alyson Ramsey finished third in the one-meter dive at 273.90 to tie for the best finish of the invite for the Huskers. She was one of two Huskers to finish an event third individually. Payton Michaud finished sixth in the three-meter dive event (269.35), while Kaitlan Walker finished tenth. Michaud also placed eighth in the one-meter dive. 

Kristin Strecker notched two top-ten finishes on the day, along with Hayley Martin and Katie Davis.

Last Time Against UNO: Nebraska Defeats In-State Rival UNO, 185-109

The Nebraska swimming and diving team was victorious at the University of Nebraska-Omaha in the first stop of a two stop road-trip. The Huskers defeated UNO, 185-109,at the HPER Pool in a dual that saw Big Red earn victories in 13 of the 16 events.

The Huskers started off strong, winning the first three events of the day in the 100-yard medley relay, 1000-yard freestyle and the 200-yard freestyle. Riley Seidel and Bailey Pons took the 1000- and 200-,respectively. UNO battled back in events 4 and 5 though before the Huskers went on a 5-event tear which saw Hayley Martin, Lexie Halberstadt, D'Arcy Schmidt, Rachell McClain, and Bailey Pons all earn wins.

UNO won the 11th event of the day in the 100-yard breaststroke, before the Huskers finished out the dual by earning wins in events 12-16.

D'Arcy Schmidt and Bailey Pons both had multiple wins on the day, while nine total Huskers contributed wins overall.
