Colorado State - 2

Sophomore Kylee Muir doubled, homered and drove in four, as Nebraska defeated Colorado State, 9-2, in its first game on Sunday.

The Huskers took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. After a Colorado State error prolonged the inning, Edwards delivered a two-out, RBI single that scored freshman Mattie Fowler.

Nebraska added three more runs in the bottom of the second. Junior Brooke Thomason began the inning with a single, advanced to second on a sacrifice from classmate Gabby Banda and scored when sophomore Kylee Muir hit the first pitch she saw over the fence in center for a two-run homer. Following a walk to senior Kirby Wright, sophomore pinch runner Morgan McCann stole second base and scored on a single from freshman Jordan Bettiol that put the Huskers on top 4-0.

Neither team threatened again until a pair of Colorado State errors and an Edwards' single loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the fifth. Banda then worked a bases-loaded walk to score McCann and push the lead to 5-0. Muir then ripped a line drive off the fence in center for a two-run double that scored Edwards and Thomason.
