Nebraska Travels to Midland Invitational

The Nebraska women's tennis team will send four athletes to the Midland Invitational in Midland, Texas this week. Madeleine Geibert, Stefanie Weinstein, Patricia Veresova and Frederike Putthoff will compete in the tournament, which will run from Sept. 16-18.

It will be Geibert's fourth trip to the Midland Invitational, where she has advanced to the quarterfinals in two of her three previous appearances.

Weinstein will make her third consecutive appearance at the tournament, while Veresova will be competing for the second time. Putthoff's trip to Midland will be the first of her Husker career.

Geibert and Weinstein found success at Midland last year, advancing to the quarterfinals before falling to Pepperdine in a tiebreaker match.

Other schools that will be represented at the Invitational include LSU, Texas A&M, Pepperdine, Baylor, Texas Tech and Abilene Christian.

ITA Pre-Season National Rankings Released

Nebraska women's tennis placed two athletes on the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) pre-season national rankings, released last week. Senior Madeleine Geibert appeared at No. 119 on the singles list, while Geibert and junior Stefanie Weinstein locked in a spot at No. 35 on the doubles rankings.

Geibert and Weinstein spent much of their spring in the ITA national doubles rankings, peaking at No. 71 during the season. This is the highest rank the duo has ever achieved. In addition, Geibert's recognition on the singles list marks her first ever individual appearance in the ITA rankings.
