Huskers Represented at Two National Meets

Lincoln - Future and former Huskers were in competition on Friday at multiple national meets. 2011 senior Eric Lund and 2012 Husker Carlos Hernandez competed at the USA Championships in Eugene, Ore., while 2011 senior Adam Wolkins  threw the javelin at the Canadian National Championships in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Lund missed advancing onto the semifinals of the 400-meter hurdles by one spot with a 17th-place finish. A senior captain and NCAA qualifier in 2011, Lund ran 51.43 while Jibri Victorian of Coppin State snagged the final spot in the semis by one-tenth of a second with a time of 51.33.

Already a Husker signee, Hernandez took sixth in the junior division of the high jump with a leap of 6-9 ¾. A product of El Paso, Texas, Hernandez took three tries to clear both 6-8 ¾ and 6-9 ¾ before he was unable to conquer 6-11. Edward Dudley of Lake Erie College won the even with a jump of 7-2 ½.

Wolkins competed in the javelin on Friday night at Foothills Athletic Park and finished sixth out of 11 throwers with a toss of 223-1. Wolkins was a two-time NCAA qualifier in the javelin and a 2010 All-American during his two seasons at Nebraska after transferring from Cowley Community College.
