Texas got the first point of the match when they won two doubles matches. “We’ve been playing great in doubles. We actually won the double points to close out the conference season in the past four matches we played so we felt pretty comfortable with our doubles,” Nebraska head coach Kerry McDermott said. “They just got a couple of breaks in the matches that they won so we knew it was going to be close doubles points.”
In singles play, on the No. 2 court, Texas’ No. 33 Ed Corrie was victorious over NU’s Calin Paar, 6-3, 6-1. On court No. 5, The Longhorns Daniel Whitehead downed the Huskers’ Sebastian Florczyk, 7-5, 6-0. Texas’ Sudanwa Sitaram clinched the match for the Longhorns at the No. 6 spot when he was victorious over NU’s Eric Sock, 6-2, 6-3.
“In the singles, they got the first sets behind them and you could just see them gaining momentum. They did a good job and they brought their game today,” McDermott said.
