Kostal Travels to NCAA Championships

Columbus, Ga.-Nebraska rifle junior Katie Kostal will travel to Georgia this weekend to compete as an individual in the 2011 National Collegiate Men's and Women's Rifle Championships.  Competition will take place in Columbus, Ga. on March 11-12 at the Frank G. Lumpkin Jr. Center at Columbus State and the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit at Fort Benning. Kostal will compete in the air rifle portion on March 12.

A total of 48 competitors were selected for the championships, with forty participants coming from eight qualifying team rosters and the remaining eight being chosen based on scores submitted from designated qualifiers.

Kostal's air rifle scores have consistently improved throughout the 2010-11 season, culminating with an impressive score of 588 against West Virginia on Feb. 12. She has averaged a score of 577.07 in air rifle on the season and has appeared in 13 matches for the Huskers.
