Huskers Defeat Florida Atlantic, 6-1

Tallahassee, Fla. - The No. 42 Nebraska Cornhuskers won their third and final match at the Seminole Quad Sunday morning when they defeated Florida Atlantic, 6-1.

 

The Huskers started Sunday’s match by winning the double’s point.

 

At the No. 1 spot in Nebraska’s double's line-up was NU’s pair of Calin Paar and Robert Schulze, who defeated Florida Atlantic’s Marc Abdelnour and Ervin Garibovic. NU’s Benedikt Lindheim and Christopher Aumueller were at the No. 2 spot. The duo defeated FAU’s Omar Carrasco and Daniel Vardag. Sebastain Florcyzk and Andre Stenger were at the No. 3 spot in the Husker’s line-up. Florcyzk and Stenger defeated FAU’s Derek Madon and Oliver Webb. All three doubles matches ended 8-4.

 

Getting off the court first in single’s play was NU’s Aumueller when he defeated FAU’s Vardag, 6-2, 6-0. Aumueller was at the No. 2 spot in the Husker’s line-up. At the No. 3 spot in the Husker’s line-up, and getting off the court second, was No. 97 Lindheim who defeated the Owl’s Garibovic, 6-3, 6-0. Finishing third was NU’s Florcyzk when he beat, 6-2, 6-1, FAU’s Webb at the No. 6 spot.

 

Coming off the court fourth and playing in the No. 5 spot of the Husker’s line-up was Stenger who defeated FAU’s Madon. Stenger won the first game 6-0 and then was up 3-0 in the second game before Madon retired.

 

At the No. 4 spot in NU’s line-up was Tom Blackwell. Blackwell defeated Florida Atlantic’s Carrasco, 6-0, 6-3.

 

At the No. 1 spot in the Husker’s line-up was No. 99 Calin Paar. Paar was defeated, 6-2, 6-0, by the Owl’s Marc Abdelnour.

 

Nebraska finished the Seminole Quad with a record of 2-1. The Huskers will travel to Palo Alto, Calif., for the ITA Kick-Off Weekend. Their first round match will be against the Commodores of Vanderbilt on Friday Jan. 28.
