Normal, Ill. - The Nebraska men's golf team finished in third place at the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate, after completing both the second and third rounds on Sunday. The Huskers managed to improve on each round, shooting 305 and 296 in the final two rounds after an opening 308, but still fell 34 shots back of the team champion, Illinois.
Tying for fifth individually and leading the way for NU was Andrew Wyatt, who shot a 222 (+9) total for the tournament. In addition, Brett Nymeyer tied for 13th with a three-round total of 225. His three-under 69 in the final round was the lowest that any Husker went this weekend.
Scott Willman shot 230 over the three rounds, and managed to tie for 27th. Lincoln natives Austin Zimmerman and Mike Coatman shot 233 and 240 respectively. Zimmerman earned 36th place and Coatman tied for 66th.
Chris DeForest of Illinois earned first place overall with his three-over 216 total after three rounds.
The Huskers' next tournament is the UMKC Bill Ross Intercollegiate on Oct. 18-19.
