Huskers Finish 11th at Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate

Las Cruces, N.M. – The Nebraska men’s golf team finished in 11th place at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate on Tuesday after their 292 total in the final round. Their 54-hole score of 888 finished 30 shots back of the team champion, Kansas.

Senior Andrew Wyatt led the Huskers with his 221 total over three rounds. He finished tied for 27th on the tournament, and his final round 69 tied the best score by a Husker over three rounds. Finishing in a tie for 33rd, sophomore Neil Dufford shot 77 in his final 18 holes, which put his total at 223. Senior Mike Coatman fired a 1-over 72 in the final round, putting him in a tie for 41st. Brett Nymeyer tied for 47th with 225 strokes and Scott Willman tied for 52nd with 227.

The Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate marks the final tournament of the fall schedule for the Huskers. Their fall season was highlighted by three consecutive top 3 finishes, including a second place showing at the Kansas Invitational. On top of that, Mike Coatman won the Fairway Club Invitational at Arbor Links in September, which was his first individual title as a Husker.
