Nebraska City - Play was suspended this afternoon at the Fairway Club Invitational after numerous thunderstorms. But before that happened, the first round of play was completed with Nebraska in fifth place. The Huskers, with a team score of 296 (+8), is 11 shots back of the leader, UMKC.
Leading the Huskers is Scott Willman, who shot an even-par 72, putting him in a tie for seventh in the 72-man field. Senior Mike Coatman finished one shot behind Willman, shooting a 73. Brett Nymeyer carded a 75, while Andrew Wyatt added a 76 to the pace and Austin Zimmerman scored a 78.
Three Husker individuals also shot 78s after the first round - Jordan Reinertson, Neil Dufford and Manuel Lavin. In addition, senior Brett Sundberg shot an 80.
Second round play will resume tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m. at ArborLinks. The final round will begin immediately following the second round.
