Huskers Tie for Fifth at Diet Pepsi Shocker Classic

Wichita, Kan. - Led by Brett Nymeyer's second career top-10 finish, the Nebraska men's golf team tied for fifth at the 15-team Diet Pepsi Shocker Classic at Wichita Country Club on Tuesday. The Huskers totaled 900 and finished 23 strokes behind the team champion, Wichita State.

Nymeyer tied for eighth, thanks to a steady one-over-par 72 on a day in which only two golfers went even-par or better because of windy conditions. Nymeyer finished at 222 for the tournament, 11 strokes behind the Shockers' Dustin Garza, who rolled to a two-under-par 211 to take medalist honors, edging out teammate Tyler Gann by five strokes.

Brandon Crick entered the final round in a tie for second, but carded an 82 on Tuesday to fall into a tie for 15th at 225. Scott Willman posted his third straight 76 to finish at 228 (T-26th). Andrew Wyatt also scored a final-round 76 to finish with a 230 (T-37th). Mike Coatman rounded out the Husker lineup with a 237 (T-53rd).

NU's Tyler Parsloe tied for 68th as an individual.

Only one tournament stands in the way of the Big 12 Championships later this month. The Huskers will look to gain some momentum at the UMB Bank/Tiger Intercollegiate in Columbia, Mo., April 12-13, before heading to Trinity, Texas for the Big 12 Championships, April 23-25.
