Des Moines, Iowa - The Nebraska track and field team hit the track for the first time at the 101st running of the Drake Relays on Thursday afternoon with the start of the meet’s Distance Carnival.
The Huskers’ Ari Goldstein opened the meet in the 10,000 meters with a 12th-place time of 38:00.34. Todd Gulizia and Anthony Oberle followed on the men’s side, as Gulizia placed sixth with a personal best of 31:39.24 and Oberle was right behind his teammate in seventh at 21:53.63.
Jen Webers and David Adams closed out the evening for the Huskers with a pair of top-15 finishes in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Webers crossed the line in 13th with a time of 10:59.56, while Adams finished sixth in the men’s race with a time of 9:03.77.
The foursome of Natalie Willer, Rachel Birtles, Cami Jiskra and Lindsey Maher will be the first Huskers to compete tomorrow at Drake Stadium in the women’s pole vault. For a full schedule and live results, visit Huskers.com.
