For the second straight match, the No. 38 Nebraska men's tennis team dropped a tough 4-3 decision after being defeated by No. 9 Baylor Sunday, April 11. Playing in their second straight Big 12 road match, the Huskers split the singles matches with the Bears, but were unable to capture the doubles point.
The duo of Calin Paar and David Bendheim (NU) collected the only doubles victory for NU when they took down Denes Lukacs and Roberto Maytin (BU) at the No. 1 spot 9-8. Francois Van Impe and Benedikt Lindheim (NU) fell to Attila Bucko and Julian Bley (BU) at the No. 2 spot, while freshmen Andre Stenger and Brandon Videtich (NU) were defeated by Sergio Ramirez and Maros Horny (BU) at the No. 3 spot.
In singles, Paar and Van Impe led the Huskers as both opened singles play with victories to give NU a 2-1 advantage. No. 96 Paar defeated No. 32 Jordan Rux (BU) at the No. 2 spot 6-4, 6-4, while Van Impe defeated his second ranked opponent of the season taking down No. 109 Attila Bucko (BU) at the No. 3 spot. After dropping matches at the No. 5 and 6 spots, Lindheim (NU) was able to improve his Big 12 record to 3-1 when he defeated Roberto Maytin (BU) at the No. 4 spot in three sets to give the Huskers their final point.
Bendheim, Van Impe Set to Play Last Home Match
Seniors David Bendheim and Francois Van Impe will be playing in the last home match of their Husker career on Sunday against the Texas Longhorns. Both Huskers enter this weekend with 60 career victories, which ties them for fifth all-time on the victories list at NU. Bendheim and Van Impe have been a mainstays in the Husker lineup since they stepped foot on campus, while both leading the turnaround of the men's tennis program.
Van Impe is enjoying his best season as a Husker as he currently holds a 17-5 record this spring. Van Impe finished his sophomore and junior seasons with 11 victories.
While never playing below the No. 4 spot in his career, Bendheim has collected 60 singles victories in his time at Nebraska. This year, Bendheim holds an 11-10 record in singles while playing at the top three spots.
Huskers Ranked No. 40
For the second straight week, the Huskers stayed at No. 40 in this week's Intercollegiate Tennis Rankings, which were released on Tuesday, April 20. The ranking marks the seventh week in a row the Huskers are ranked in the top 40.
Junior Calin Paar is ranked at No. 74 in the singles rankings, while Christopher Aumueller checks in at No. 77. David Bendheim and Calin Paar entered the doubles rankings at No. 64.

Lindheim, Paar on Tear
Junior Calin Paar and sophomore Benedikt Lindheim have been on a tear as of late having both won three straight matches in the Big 12. Paar has done so in impressive fashion defeating three ranked opponents in straight sets all at the No. 2 spot. The German native took down No. 98 Anton Bobytskyi (Oklahoma State), No. 72 Gonzalo Escobar (Texas Tech) and No. 32 Jordan Rux (Baylor) to improve his overall singles record to 16-5 on the season.
Lindheim, who leads the team in victories with 18, defeated Eric West (Oklahoma State), Andre Stabile (Texas Tech) and Roberto Maytin (Baylor) to better his Big 12 record to 3-1. Lindheim has lost only one time in his last 13 matches.
Scouting the Oklahoma Sooners
The No. 21 Oklahoma Sooners will enter this weekend looking to break their current two-match losing streak after dropping back-to-back 5-2 decisions to Texas Tech and Baylor. The Sooners currently sport a 15-6 record and a 1-4 mark in conference play. Oklahoma features a talented singles lineup with three nationally ranked players including No. 26 Andrei Daescu, No. 70 Costin Paval, and No. 71 Ionut Beleleu. Oklahoma is led by first year head coach John Roddick.
Scouting the Texas Longhorns
The No. 3 Texas Longhorns will battle Texas A&M for the Big 12 regular season championship on Wednesday night, before traveling to Lincoln. The Longhorns own a 21-2 record this season and are a perfect 4-0 in conference play. The Longhorn's only two losses this season have come against Tennessee and Virginia, the current No.1 and 2 ranked teams in the country. Texas sports a deep singles lineup with four ranked players. No. 11 Dimitar Kutrovsky leads the pack with an 11-8 record while playing at the No. 1 position, while No. 21 Ed Corrie will play at the No. 2 spot. All three of the Longhorn's doubles teams are ranked including No. 6 Kutrovsky and Josh Zavala. Texas is coached by Michael Center.

Huskers Look to Finish Regular Season on High Note
The No. 40 Nebraska men's tennis team will conclude its' regular season this weekend with a pair of matches against top 25 opponents. The Huskers, who own a 13-9 record and 1-3 mark in Big 12 play, will first travel to Norman, Okla., to take on the No. 21 Oklahoma Sooners on Friday, April 23, at 6 p.m. NU will then return home for their last home match of the season to face off against the No. 3 Texas Longhorns at the Nebraska Tennis Center on Sunday, April 25, at 2 p.m.
The Sooners will enter the weekend with a 15-6 record and a 1-4 mark in conference play. Oklahoma has won the last two meetings between the teams, including a close 4-3 decision last season in Lincoln.
One of the top squads in the nation, Texas currently holds a 21-2 overall record and a perfect 4-0 mark in Big 12 play. The Longhorns will take on No. 10 Texas A&M on Wednesday, April 21, to decide the regular season Big 12 champion before traveling to Lincoln.
