Senior Brett Suckstorf finished his first hammer throw competition of 2010 by shattering his previous best of 193-2 by over four feet with a toss of 197-4. The seventh-place throw in the invitational division of the event moved Suckstorf up one spot on NU’s all-time performance list from No. 10 to No. 9.

Tyler Hitchler continued to have a stellar meet for the Husker throwers, as the sophomore won the invitational division of the discus with a toss of 176-2. On Friday, Hitchler finished third in the shot put with a personal-best throw of 53-3.

The women’s discus throwers added two top-ten finishes, as redshirt-freshman Morgan Wilkin placed fifth (158-0) and junior Samantha Musil finished eighth (148-7)

After setting a personal best in the 1,500 meters on Friday, Ashley Miller returned to the track on Saturday for the 800 meters and nearly set another PR. Miller placed 17th out of 71 runners with a time of 2:10.30, which was two-tenths of a second off her personal best of 2:10.10. On the men’s side of the 800, freshman Tommy Brinn placed 19th (1:51.85) and senior Ethan Luebbe finished 25th (1:52.62).
