Tempe, Ariz. ? The Husker hurdlers opened the 2010 outdoor track and field season on Saturday, March 21 at the Baldy Castillo Invitational at Sun Angel Stadium in Tempe, Ariz. Nebraska brought home wins in the women’s 100, men’s 110 hurdles and men’s 400 hurdles.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>
Karyn LaCour and Arna Erega teamed for a 1-2 sweep in a field of 15 in the 100 hurdles. LaCour took top honors at 13.56, which was just five-hundredths of a second off her personal best of 13.51. Erega followed at 13.61, also five-hundredths of a second off her personal best of 13.56.
The NU men then added a 1-2-4 finish in the 110 hurdles. 2010 indoor All-America 60-meter hurdler Lehann Fourie won with a time of 13.80, while Tyrell Ross tied his personal best with a second-place time of 13.87 and Eric Lund added a fourth-place finish at 14.34.
Lund then bounced back to take top honors in the 400 hurdles at 52.24, while Cylend Simmons finished third (53.25) and Ross fourth (53.58).
The Huskers will be back in Tempe next weekend for the Arizona State Invitational and will also be traveling to Palo Alto, Calif., for the Stanford Invitational.
