Huskers Start Fast in Victory Over Bulldogs

Lincoln, Neb.---The Nebraska men's tennis team extended its' two-match winning streak on Wednesday, March 3, after taking down the Brake Bulldogs 6-1 at the Nebraska Tennis Center. The win improves the Huskers' record to 6-3 on the season, while Drake drops to 5-5. The Huskers were dominant from the start taking all three doubles matches to clinch the doubles point.

"I felt like we got off to a really fast start in doubles, especially at the No. 1 and 2 spots," head coach Kerry McDermott said after Wednesday's match.  "I don't think Drake really knew what hit them and that set the tone for the rest of the match."

At the No. 1 doubles spot, No. 54 David Bendheim and Calin Paar (NU) took down Mauricio Ballivian (DU) 8-4 to set the tone for NU. Christopher Aumueller and Andre Stenger (NU) improved their record to 4-0 on the season after taking down Jonathan Hadash and Guilherme Marsiglia (DU) 8-2 at the No. 2 spot.

In singles, the Bendheim (NU) was the first one off the court for NU after taking down Marsiglia (DU) 6-2, 6-0, at the No. 3 spot. Bendheim was quickly followed by Francois Van Impe (NU) after he defeated Cesar Bracho (DU) 6-1, 6-3, at the No. 4 spot. At the No. 5 spot, Stenger (NU) got the best of Hadash (DU) in three sets at the No. 5 spot for his second singles victory of the season. No. 113 Aumueller defeated Ballivian (DU) at the No.1 spot, while No. 82 Paar to down McKie (DU) at the No 2 position.

The Huskers return to action on Saturday, March 6, when they take on Santa Clara at 1 p.m. in Tucson, Ariz.
