Lincoln - Head Coach Dan Kendig announced the Nebraska women's gymnastics team's complete schedule for the 2010 season on Monday. NU's docket includes meets with three of last year's top 10 nationally ranked teams, as well as 10 opponents from the national top 25. The Huskers will also host the 2010 Big 12 Championships at the Bob Devaney Sports Center in March.
Nebraska will welcome Minnesota, Illinois, Michigan, Missouri and Iowa State to the Devaney Center for regular-season duals in 2010, along with playing host to Arizona, Denver and West Virginia at the Masters Classic.
Nebraska, which has reached the NCAA Championships nine of the last 11 years, will prepare for the NCAA Championships by traveling to face national powerhouses Utah, Oklahoma and Penn State.
The Huskers return two-time All-American senior Kylie Stone in 2010. Nebraska also boasts Big 12 Newcomer of the Year Lora Evenstad and a slew of talented event specialists and newcomers to the squad.
In five home competitions at the Bob Devaney Sports Center, the Huskers will feature three Sunday afternoon competitions on their slate, as well as evening meets on a Friday and a Saturday.
Nebraska opens the year at Washington on Jan. 8 in Seattle, Wash., then returns to the Devaney Center the following Friday for a three-meet home stand beginning with Minnesota and Illinois on Jan. 15. The Huskers then host Michigan on Sunday, Jan. 24 and Missouri on Saturday, Jan. 30.
After traveling to Norman, Okla., on Feb. 5 to battle Oklahoma, NU will hit the road again for the Navy Pier Meet with Denver and Illinois in Chicago on Feb. 12. The Huskers continue a stretch of away meets, as North Carolina State plays host to Nebraska on Feb. 20 in Raleigh, N.C.
The Huskers will return to Lincoln on Feb. 28 to welcome Arizona, Denver and West Virginia for the Masters Classic. Nebraska will then take on Utah, which closed the 2009 season ranked third, in Salt Lake City on Friday, March 5.
Nebraska hosts its final regular season meet against Iowa State on Sunday, March 14. NU will then close the regular season at Penn State on Saturday, March 20.
Entering the run for a solid postseason showing, NU will play host to the 2010 Big 12 Championships on March 28. The annual conference meet, which Nebraska has won eight times in 12 seasons, is followed by an NCAA Regional on April 10 and the 2010 NCAA Championships in Gainesville, Fla., April 22-24.
