Lawrence, Kan. - The Nebraska men's golf team rebounded from a first-round 312 total by posting a 288 in the second round of the Kansas Invitational at Alvamar Golf Course Monday. NU sits in sixth place out of 14 teams heading into Tuesday's final round, which begins at 8:30 a.m.
Mike Coatman leads NU with a three-over-par 147 and is tied for 10th place. Brandon Crick and Andrew Wyatt are tied for 14th, one stroke behind Coatman at 148. Crick shot a season-low round of 69 in the second round.
Brett Nymeyer, a junior college transfer seeing his first action as part of the Husker lineup, is tied for 54th at 158. Scott Willman is tied for 58th at 159.
Tyler Parsloe and Neil Dufford are playing as individuals for the Huskers. Parsloe is tied for 27th with a total of 151. Dufford is tied for 37th at 154.
The Huskers were in 10th place after the first round, but their 288 team score in the second round is the best team round of the tournament so far. NU is 11 strokes behind first-place Missouri.
NU is leading the field in Par-4 scoring at +26 through two rounds, but has not been able to capitalize on Par-5s, where the team is even par.
