The Nebraska rifle team picked up a second signature for its 2009 recruiting class, Head Coach Morgan Hicks announced on Sunday. Janine Dutton, from Eagle River, Alaska, will join the Huskers in the fall.
"Janine is a really good shooter whom we are very fortunate to get," Hicks said. "She will be a tremendous help to the team next year, even as a freshman."
Dutton placed second out of 162 competitors in the Junior 1 division at the 2008 National Jr. Olympic 3-P Air Rifle Championships. She will enter NU along with Joyce Kim, an Arizona native who signed last November.
"Janine has a ton of potential, and I think that will be very evident as soon as she gets here," Hicks said. "This was a hard decision for Janine to go so far away from home, but she loves the fact that Nebraska is so strong academically and that she fits so well with the team. We can't wait to add both her and Joyce Kim to the squad next year."
