A bases-loaded walk to Tyler Farst and a two-run double by Adam Bailey pushes the lead to 10-6 in the top of the ninth. Bailey has six RBIs today, the most by a Husker in three years.

4:28 p.m.
Khiry Cooper comes through with a two-run single, as the Huskers regain the lead at 7-6. Six of the seven Husker runs hve been driven in by newcomers in their first game at Hawks Field.

4:16 p.m.
The Huskers are going to need a comeback, as they trail 6-5 heading into the bottom of the eighth inning. Nick Sullivan will lead off the eighth for the Huskers in the frame.

We are deadlocked at five heading into the top of the eighth inning. Hauptman is still pitching for the Huskers

A diving catch by UND left-fielder Andrew Sadler ends the Husker rally and keeps the game alive, as the teams are tied entering the seventh inning.

North Dakota ties the score at 5-5, as we head to the bottom of the sixth. Nebraska is starting to threaten as freshman Cody Asche has his second two-hit game, while DJ Belfonte coaxes a walk. Derek Beirmaier is now pitching for the North Dakota.

Pitching change for the Huskers as Casey Haumptman enters the game with the bases loaded and the Huskers holding a 5-4 lead.

Yardwork: Adam Bailey rockets a three-run homer intothe UND bullpen and Nebraska now leads 5-4. Bailey, the subject of today's Lincoln Journal Star preview by Curt McKeever, has belted two of the Huskers' three homers this season. We are now in the top of the sixth with the Huskers up 5-4.

North Dakota gets a second life and takes advantage, scoring three times to take a 4-1 lead in the fifth. Eric Rose is now pitching for NU and gets the Huskers out of further trouble

Huskers threaten in the third, but Jeff Tezak lines into a double play to Brandon Baumgartner - the UND pitcher - to end the inning

Huskers go down in order in the bottom of the second; Top of the third with UND up 1-0.

North Dakota strikes first, getting a two-out RBI single from Josh Lagein in the top of the second. Huskers coming to bat.

It is 60 degrees under perfect skies; Winds from the NNE at 9 mpb. This is Nebraska's earliest home opener since 1998 at historic Buck Beltzer Stadium. According to Mitch Sherman from the Omaha World-Herald, that was the identical temperature as last year's home regular-season home finale.

The crowd is continuing to file in this afternoon, including a certain Gator Bowl MVP who is taking in a ballgame this afternoon.
