The Nebraska men’s tennis team will continue the fall season this weekend at the 2008 D’Novo All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla.
The Huskers will send a total of six competitors to the tournament to face off against some of the toughest competition in the nation. Francois Van Impe, Renato Melo, Christopher Aumueller and Benedikt Lindheim will play in the pre-qualifying matches set for this weekend.
In order to advance to the qualifying bracket players must win four matches in the pre-qualifying round. The other two Huskers competing in the tournament will be junior David Bendheim and sophmore Calin Paar. They will begin play on Oct. 6 in the qualifying round which consists of 128 players.
The main draw of the tournament will consist of 64 players and will begin play on Oct. 9 and run through Oct. 12. The Huskers will not send any doubles teams to this weekend’s tournament.
Lindheim, Aumueller Set to Make Husker Debut
There are two new additions to the Nebraska men's tennis roster as Christopher Aumueller and Benedikt Lindheim were both cleared by the NCAA Clearinghouse in mid-September. This weekend's tournament will be the first time either has competed at the NCAA level. Natives of Germany, Aumueller came to Nebraska ranked No. 100 in Germany, Lendheim was ranked No. 150 in Germany.
