Lincoln - Former Husker women's basketball players Danielle Page, Chelsea Aubry, Ashley Ford and Heather Kephart earned their undergraduate degrees from the University of Nebraska during commencement exercises on Saturday, May 10, at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.
Page, a 6-2 forward from Monument, Colo., the lone senior on Nebraska's 2008 team that advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, completed her degree in communication studies in four years at Nebraska. Page, who is battling for a roster spot for Connecticut Sun, helped her WNBA team to an 88-80 victory over Houston in its preseason finale on Friday in Connecticut.
Page, a three-time academic All-Big 12 selection and a 2008 honorable-mention all-conference pick, completed her coursework in mid-April before joining the Sun's preseason training camp.
Another all-conference performer on the court and in the classroom, Aubry collected her bachelor's degree in international business. A member of the Canadian Senior National Team, Aubry was a two-time second-team academic All-Big 12 choice and earned honorable-mention all-conference honors while helping the Huskers to the 2007 NCAA Tournament.
Ford, a graduate of Lincoln Northeast High School, joined Aubry and Page on Nebraska's 2007 NCAA Tournament team. Ford, who completed her undergraduate degree in communication studies, started all 32 games for the Huskers at point guard in 2006-07. She claimed a spot on the Big 12 Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll in the fall of 2007.
Kephart was a member of Coach Connie Yori's Husker squad for three seasons before a foot injury ended her career during the 2005-06 season. During the first eight games of her career as a true freshman in 2003-04, Kephart averaged 7.8 points per game and connected on 17 three-pointers. She came to Nebraska as the leading scorer in Oklahoma High School history with 2,747 points at Canute High School.
Kephart earned her bachelor's degree in business administration and was a five-time member of the Big 12 Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll.
