Seven Huskers Earn Big 12 Honor Roll Spots

Lincoln - Seven members of the Nebraska women's basketball team captured spots on the 2007 Big 12 Commissioner's Fall Academic Honor Roll released on Wednesday, Feb. 13.

Senior forward Danielle Page headlined the Nebraska contingent on the list of honorees, who all achieved a 3.0 or better grade-point average during the fall semester. Sophomores Cory Montgomery and Kala Kuhlmann, joined freshmen Kaitlyn Burke and Jessica Periago on the list. Those five current Huskers were joined by former NU players Ashley Ford on Heather Kephart.

Overall, an impressive list of 298 Nebraska student-athletes across all sports claimed spots on the Big 12 Commissioner's Fall Academic Honor Roll. Among the 298 student-athletes who achieved 3.0 or better grade-point averages during the semester, 35 Huskers posted perfect 4.0 GPAs.

Nebraska's approach to recruiting the nation's finest student-athletes yielded a remarkably diverse contingent of fall academic honorees that included representatives of 31 U.S. states and 16 foreign countries, including honor roll members from four Canadian provinces. Husker honor roll members also came to Nebraska from Australia, Belgium, Brazil, China, Croatia, France, Germany, Hungary, Israel, Jamaica, Latvia, Mexico, Scotland, South Africa and Sweden. 

The Huskers' Big 12 Commissioner's Fall Academic Honor Roll class also carried a distinct state flavor with 114 native Nebraskans among the 298 award winners.

The Nebraska women's basketball team owns a 17-7 overall record and a 6-4 Big 12 Conference mark this season. The Huskers return to action on Sunday, Feb. 17, when they travel to Lawrence to take on the Kansas Jayhawks. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m., with live radio coverage provided by the Husker Sports Network and Huskers.com.
