The Nebraska women's tennis team announced that it has officially signed two very promising prospects to scholarship. Madeleine Geibert of Ludwigshafen, Germany, and Jennifer Holmberg of Tampere, Finland, will be joining the Huskers starting next year.
"We feel honored to have these two joining our Husker family next August," head coach Scott Jacobson said.
Geibert is ranked 63rd in the Women's division in Germany, and Holmberg has a ITF juniors ranking of 384th.
"Jennifer is an incredibly gifted lefty with a tremendous all-court game and excellent doubles skills," Jacobson said. "Madeleine is a very hard hitting baseliner that can dictate off the ground. She has an outstanding all-court game. In the long list of talented players that have played for the Huskers from Germany, Geibert will enter Nebraska with the highest German women's ranking of any of those that have preceded her."
Both are on track to join the Husker team next August in time for the 2008 fall season.
"These two are going to have an incredibly positive impact on the future of our program and we are grateful for their confidence in the Husker family," said Jacobson.
