The Nebraska men's tennis team signed Tobias Schneider, from San Antonio, Texas, to a scholarship this week. Schneider will join the team in time for the spring season which starts on Jan. 19.
Schneider, who graduated from Blessed Hope High School in San Antonio, has been training at the Newk's Tennis Academy in New Braunfels, Texas, the last few years, head coach Kerry McDermott said.
"He will be a welcome addition to the team and we are looking for some great doubles skills, hard work and enthusiasm to help our team next semester," said McDermott.
Schneider is ranked #15 in the U.S. Boys National Doubles rankings, and is #1 in the state of Texas.
"He will help our doubles, and hopefully push for a singles spot," McDermott said.
