Tulsa, Okla. - The Nebraska women's tennis team ended their run at the ITA Central Regional Tournament on Saturday as the doubles team of freshman Jana Albers and senior Imke Reimers lost in the Open Doubles quarterfinals.
The Husker duo, who had the No. 13-seed and upset the No. 1-seeded team in the third round of Open Doubles, were upset in a tight match by Wichita State's Florentina Hanisch and Lenore Lazaroiu, 8-6.
The Huskers had a successful tournament, which saw them collectively go 5-8 in singles play and 3-3 in doubles play. All four Husker freshmen got playing experience, and returning letterwinners Maria Ring and Wiveca Swarting saw their first action of the fall season in Tulsa.
Nebraska has one more tournament left in the fall season, the National Indoors, which take place on Nov. 1 in Columbus, Ohio. The Huskers will take the winter off before gearing up to begin their spring season on Jan. 25 with a home match against in-state rival Creighton.
