Jordan Burroughs qualified for the 2007 Senior World Team Trials with a runner-up finish at 66 kg while Robert Sanders finished fourth at 66 kg at the 2007 University National Championships, held in Akron, Ohio, on April 20-22.
Burroughs, an NCAA qualifier at 149 pounds for Nebraska this season, fell in the finals to two-time All-American Teyon Ware of Oklahoma. In the semifinals, Burroughs won by technical fall over Ryan Needle to clinch his bid in the final. Burroughs was 5-1 on the tournament.
Sanders, who qualified for nationals in 2006 for the Huskers at 149 pounds, won four straight matches before falling to Ware in the semifinals. In the consolation bracket, Sanders secured a top-four finish with a win over Nathaniel Holt before falling the consolation bracket to Daniel LeClere of Iowa.
At 74 kg, Stephen Dwyer fell just one match short of placing, finishing 5-2 for the tournament after falling to Keegan Davis of OregonState by decision. Levi Wofford also finished one win shy of finishing in the top eight, going 3-2 at 84 kg before losing to Eric Chine of KentState.
Among other Huskers competing, Austin Baier finished 2-2 at 63 kg, Frank Jonas was 0-2 at 74 kg, Andy Johnson finished 1-2 at 79 kg, and Craig Brester went 3-2 at 96 kg.
