Huskers Sweep Panthers

Lincoln - The No. 75 Nebraska women's tennis team swept the Northern Iowa Panthers on Friday morning, 7-0, at the Nebraska Tennis Center. The Huskers improved to 8-5 on the season with the win, which was NU's third sweep this season and second straight home sweep. The loss stopped a three-match winning streak for the Panthers and dropped them to 11-3 overall on the season.   The Huskers started off strong in the doubles matches, winning all three highlighted by junior Imke Reimers and freshman Diana Kuhl's 8-2 victory over UNI's Meghana Paritala and Mariana Muraca at the No. 1 spot. Sophomore Maria Ring and freshman Wiveca Swarting picked up their fourth straight doubles win with a 8-6 victory over Carolina Hannes and Sampada Kanade in the No. 2 position.   Nebraska showed no signs of slowing in the singles matches. Reimers, ranked No. 50 in the nation in the latest ITA rankings, picked up her fourth consecutive singles victory with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Paritala, handing Paritala just her third loss in 14 matches this season. In the last three matches, Reimers has outscored her opponents 36-7.   Ring also won her fourth straight singles match with a three-set victory over UNI's Taynara Moraes, 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-4). The loss was only Moraes' second of the season in 14 matches. Swarting also made quick work of Northern Iowa's Kanade, 6-1, 6-1, in an impressive effort.    The Huskers travel to Lubbock, Texas, on Sunday to take on Texas Tech in their first Big 12 match in more than two weeks. Nebraska will be looking to improve its 1-4 conference record when it takes on the Red Raiders. NU only has three home matches remaining this season, starting with an April 7 match against Oklahoma.   No. 75 Nebraska 7, Northern Iowa 0 Doubles No. 1 Reimers/Kuhl (NU) def.
