Austin, Texas - Three Huskers enter the final day among the top 25 golfers at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational after the Nebraska women's golf team fired a 307 to sit in a tie for seventh after Saturday's second round.
Nebraska moved from ninth into a tie for seventh after producing Saturday's fifth-best round in the 15-team tournament field. The Huskers enter Sunday's final round tied with Oklahoma at 621, 14 strokes behind the hosts from Texas. Arkansas, TCU and Purdue closed Saturday's second round in a tie for second at 615, eight shots behind the the Longhorns.
Junior Elli Brown led Nebraska's charge by jumping 22 spots up the leaderboard with a second-round 74. Brown's two-over-par round on the par-72, 6,290-yard layout of the University of Texas Golf Club. The Meridian, Idaho, enters Sunday's final 18 holes in a tie for 18th place at 154.
True freshman Kate White continued her consistent play with a 78 on Saturday. The native of Waukegan, Ill., closed the second round at 155 in a tie for 22nd. Junior Allison Stewart joined Brown and White among the top 25 on the individual leaderboard after managing an 80 to sit in a tie for 25th at 156.
JC Stevenson, a true freshman from Grand Island, Neb., vaulted 36 spots up the leaderboard with a second-round 75 to place herself in a tie for 37th at 159. Chrissie McArdle (82-82-164) and Megan Place (83-81-164) rounded out Nebraska's contingent in Texas in a tie for 64th.
