On quarterback Zac Taylor playing his last home game:
“Zac?it seems like we just got him, and in a lot of ways we did. His contributions to this program are immeasurable. He’s such a tremendous leader, and he’s helped his teammates improve so much. We really couldn’t have done what we’ve done here the last two years without Zac. He’s really helped us progress and put this offense in play. It’s going to be fun watching him play his last home game, but there are going to be some hard feelings about that, too.”
“I think Zac Taylor has been everything we had hoped he could be and more. We really knew he had great intangibles, that he was a great leader. We knew that he was a great teammate and that he was tough, but we didn’t really realize how tough he was. He’s much tougher than we ever anticipated. He has a lot of talent in his arm, I think more than even we understood. He’s really done a phenomenal job. I couldn’t say enough good things about him.”
On improvements on the running game:
“I think it’s improved. We always look for more improvement, but, yeah, I think it’s been something that’s been consistent for us. We always want to go into every game looking to run the football, and for the most part we’ve been able to do that this year.”
On the biggest reason behind the improved running game:
“The offensive line play and the consistency of our backs. Just the guys being on the right page, less mental error and more consistency in our combinations up front. And Zac (Taylor has) had something to do with that, too, with the identification of the fronts. But it goes back to our line and (offensive line coach Dennis Wagner) and the way our guys have worked and improved this year.”
