Huskers Travel to Maverick Challenge

Lincoln-The No. 2 Nebraska bowling team will head to Chicago, Ill., to compete in the Maverick Challenge tournament this weekend.  The three-day tournament, hosted by MinnesotaState, is set to begin at noon on Friday, Nov. 17, and conclude Sunday at 1 p.m.

Six Huskers will be competing in the weekend’s events including seniors Adrienne Miller and Amanda Burgoyne, junior Lindsay Baker, and redshirt freshmen Cassandra Leuthold, Sarah Koch and Stephanie McGinnis

NU will compete against six other teams for their first title of the year.  The tournament field consists of FontBonneUniversity, Elmhurst College, Arkansas State, Alabama A&M, Wisconsin-Whitewater, Minnesota State at Mankato and CentralMissouriState. Nebraska placed first in MinnesotaState’s invitational in 2004 and 2005.

Nebraska placed second in its season opener at the Cheeseland Classic at Whitewater, Wis., last weekend.  The Huskers were led by Leuthold, who placed second with an average of 200 over 14 games. 

NU will have a two week break before returning to action on Dec. 1 with a tournament at Daytona Beach, Fla.
