Las Cruces, N.M. - Senior Brady Schnell shot a 137 (67-70) Monday at the par-72, 7,074-yard New Mexico State University Golf Course in Las Cruces, New Mexico, to lead the Nebraska men's golf team a fourth-place spot in a talented field of 12 teams through the first round of the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate.   The Huskers finished with a total score of 591 (290-291) through the first two rounds and remain just one stroke from a top-three spot and just nine strokes out of first place.   Schnell's 137 placed him in a tie for first place through the first day of competition, while his first-round score of 67 is a season-low, while his second-round 70 matches his previous season low, which he shot at the Inverness Intercollegiate and Kansas Invitationals.   Schnell led the tournament in par-four scoring with a two-under par 3.90 as well as in par-five scoring with a seven-under par 4.13. Schnell additionaly tied for fourth in the tournament in both birdies with nine birdies and pars with 23, and snagged one eagle.   Seniors Ty Capps (74-74) and Drew Reynolds were next for the Huskers (77-71) with a total of 148, placing them each in a tie for 18th. Reynolds' second-round score of 71 marks his season-low, as he previously shot a 72 at the Memphis Intercollegiate.   Capps led the tournament in pars with 27, while Reynolds tied for third with 24 pars. Reynolds was additionally tied for third in par-three scoring, shooting an even 3.00 on par-three holes while also snagging one eagle.   Freshman Jamie Marshall Marshall was fourth in the Husker lineup with a 150 (74-76), placing him in a tie for 27th. Marshall additionally tied for second in the tournament in par-scoring with 25, while his first-round score of 74 marks a season and career-low, bettering his previous low of 77 at the Memphis Intercollegiate by three strokes.   Senior Ryan Lenahan rounded out the Husker lineup with a 155 (75-80), placing him in a tie for 48th.   As a team, the Huskers led the tournament in even-pars with 115 while also placing second in in par-four scoring and fifth in the tournament in par-three scoring.   Nebraska will resume play at 8 a.m. in the third and final round of the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate Tuesday morning.   -Huskers-
