Offensive Coordinator Jay Norvell

On the playing status of senior guard Greg Austin

“It’s hard to say (if he will play against KansasState). We’ll see as the week goes along what his status is. If he’s ready to play, we’ll sure play him.”

On Austin’s injury history

“Greg has probably the biggest heart on our football team. He has had to overcome so many injuries over the years, and nothing keeps him down. He just loves his teammate, loves this program. He’s done everything he can to get back on the field, and we appreciate it as a coaching staff.”

On the KansasState defense

“They have a very, very fine defense, and they are well-coached. They play extremely hard and they are very physical. We have to do a great job. It’s going to be a tremendous challenge going down there and playing them on their home turf, but it’s another step for us in this North division. Our guys are going to have to work very hard this week to prepare for this ball game.”

On the importance of playing well on the road against Big 12 teams

“It’s a long season, and these games are challenges on the road. (KansasState) is a good football team. They have made a lot of strides defensively. They are starting to understand what they are supposed to do back there, and they have a lot of guys playing. They play extremely hard. You have to give them credit for what they’ve been able to do so far. This is a critical Big 12 North match-up, and we’re going to have to respond to the challenge. It’s going to be a big challenge Saturday night.”
