Two Huskers Advance to Semifinals

Atlanta, Ga. ? Eight Huskers opened the day at the Georgia Tech Fall Invitational, but only two remained unbeaten at the end of Friday's competition.  Advancing to Saturday's semifinals were senior Adrian Szatmary in the Flight "A" singles bracket and sophomore Hendrik Stahmer in the Flight "B" singles bracket.

 

In the first round of Flight “A” singles, Szatmary handled Chris Doerr of MississippiState in two sets, 6-2, 6-3.  Szatmary then faced the No. 1 seed, Jamie Hunt of Georgia, in the second round, and won in three hard-fought sets.  Szatmary led off with a tiebreaker win in the first set, 7-6, but then fell to Hunt in the second set, 3-6.  Szatmary then battled back from an 0-3 start in the third before ultimately winning the set, 6-4, and the match.

 

Nebraska added another qualifier in Flight “B” singles, as Stahmer defeated Auburn’s Hunter Mills, 6-4, 6-1, in the first round and Wren Hood of Southern Mississippi, 7-5, 6-0, in the second round.

 

The Huskers resume competition Saturday morning and continue through Sunday.
