Lincoln - The <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Nebraska swimming and diving team rounded out the year on a strong note by placing 18 members on the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll for the second semester, the NU Athletic Department announced on Thursday.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>
In February, when 18 members of the swimming and diving team were named to the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll, it continued an impressive streak of the team increasing or maintaining its honor roll every semester since Coach Pablo Morales and Assistant Coach Doug Humphrey took over in 2001. That streak continued Thursday.
A total of 249 Nebraska student-athletes were honored by the Big 12 Conference, which requires a 3.0 or better grade-point average during the spring semester. Of the 249, 38 Husker student-athletes attained a perfect 4.0 GPA.
Leading a talented swimming and diving team that went 7-2 during the 2005-06 season was senior Becky Johnson, who achieved a 4.0 GPA and was one of seven seniors named to the list.
Even more outstanding was that it was Johnson’s eighth honor in a row, as she and fellow senior Alex King earned a spot on the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll every semester during their four-year careers as Huskers.
The junior class also had seven members named to the honor roll, led by Emilee Crawford, who achieved her sixth honor in as many semesters at Nebraska.
