Two Huskers Named All-Americans

Lincoln ? A pair of Nebraska baseball players were honored on Friday, as Ryan Wehrle and Tony Watson were named to Collegiate Baseball’s All-America team. Both Huskers were third-team selections, while the honors were the first both both Watson, a left-hander from Grimes, Iowa, and Wehrle, a shortstop from Papillion, Neb.

Watson earned first-team All-Big 12 honors going 10-1 with a 2.87 ERA in 16 starts this season, ranking third in the Big 12 in ERA and wins, fourth in opponent batting average (.236) and innings pitched (94). He allowed one earned run or less in seven of his 14 starts and has not allowed more than four runs in any of his 14 starts this season.

Wehrle also earned first-team All-Big 12 accolades as he entered the NCAA Regional with a .367 average with eight homers and 48 RBIs. The sophomore tops NU in hits (80) and runs (50), while his 21 doubles is second in the Big 12. He also tops the Huskers with 28 multi-hit games this season.
