Johnson Leads Huskers on Final Day of Zone Meet

Columbia, Mo. - Senior Becky Johnson capped a successful career as she led the Huskers on the final day of the 2006 NCAA Zone D Diving Championships in Columbia, Mo.

Johnson was one of two Huskers to qualify for the finals on the platform dive as she earned Nebraska’s second eighth-place finish of the meet with a score of 408.70. It was the highest finish for the Anoka, Minn., native at the zone meet in her career.

Junior Danielle Stansbury was Nebraska’s other finals representative as the Lincoln (Neb.) Southeast graduate placed 12th with a score of 360.75. Stansbury was competing in the zone meet for the first time in her career and Sunday’s finish was her highest of the three-day meet.

The Husker divers have now completed competition for the season, but junior swimmers Lauren Bailey and Kate Wheeler will represent Nebraska in the 2006 NCAA Championships later this week (March 16-18) in Athens, Ga.
