Junior forward Brittany Timko was named the Big 12 Soccer Offensive Player of the Week by the league office on Tuesday. Timko’s honor came after she had a hand in all five of Nebraska’s goals in a pair victories last week.
Timko recorded her first multi-goal game of the season by scoring both of the Huskers’ goals in a 2-1 win over Oklahoma on Friday. On Sunday, Timko became the distributor, assisting on all three of NU’s goals in a 3-2 victory against OklahomaState. Her three assists tied a career high, while her final assist broke one school record and tied two more.
Her third assist was also the game-winning assist and gave her seven game-winning assists on the season, breaking her record of six set last season. The game-winning assist increased her career total to 13, tying Meghan Anderson’s school record. It was also the 17th assist of the season for Timko, tying Jenny Benson’s single-season school record established in 1999. Timko ranks third in the nation in assists per game.
Timko and her Husker teammates can earn at least a share of the Big 12 regular-season title with a pair of victories this weekend. NU hosts IowaState on Friday at 4 p.m., before traveling to Lubbock, Texas, for a makeup game with Texas Tech at Noon on Sunday.
