Los Angeles, Calif.?Kim Hartmann recorded her third win of the prequalifying tournament at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships to lead the Nebraska women’s tennis team Sunday. With the win, Hartmann advances to the qualifying tournament beginning Tuesday, Oct. 4.
Hartmann, a freshman from Germany, posted her third straight victory when she defeated Jessi Robinson of Duke, 6-3, 6-1. Over the last two matches, Hartmann has dropped just five games.
Sophomore Imke Reimers also competed Sunday but fell to Purdue’s Randi Schuler, 6-2, 6-4. In doubles action, Reimers and senior Milena Schulz-Gartner fell to Rudman Tarryn and Shosho Lyndsay of Georgia Tech, 8-1.
Assistant coach Hayden Perez was pleased with Hartmann’s play.
“It was difficult to see Imke fall like she did today because I know that playing in this meant a lot to her,” Perez said. “Kim played the best tennis she has so far. She is very excited to advance and play in Tulsa on Tuesday.”
