Nebraska Opens Fall Season in Colorado

Lincoln - The Nebraska women’s golf team opens its 2005 fall season at the 18-team Ptarmigan Invitational hosted by Colorado State at the Ptarmigan Country Club in Fort Collins, Colo.

The tourmament opens with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start for 36 holes on Monday, Sept. 12, and will conclude with the final 18 holes scheduled for Tuesday at 8:30 a.m.

This year’s field is the most competitive in the history of the event. It also will give the Huskers their first Big 12 Conference competition with teams such as Baylor, Colorado and Kansas.

This week’s lineup will feature five Husker golfers who have a range of experience. Seniors Stephanie Ruiz, Sara Sackett and Jackie Beste will be competing alongside junior Chrissie McArdle and sophomore Elli Brown.

The last time Nebraska competed at the Ptarmigan Invitational was in the fall of 1998, when the Huskers placed fourth out of 20 teams with a score of 914 (305-310-299).
