Austin, Texas -- The Nebraska men's tennis team saw its season come to an end as it fell to defending national champion Baylor, 4-0, at the Penick-Allison Tennis Center Friday. With the loss, the Huskers dropped to 9-15 on the season while Baylor, the three-time defending league champion, remained perfect as it improved to 26-0 on the season.
The Bears came out strong in doubles play, as they swept the top two spots to earn the point. Benedikt Dorsch and Matija Zgaga ran past Joel Reckewey and Jerry Posch, 8-1, while Lars Poerschke and Michael Kokta produced the same result and an identical score over Joerg Barthel and Jose Rivera at the No. 2 slot.
In singles action, Vladimir Portnov raced past Reckewey at the No. 6 position, 6-3, 6-2, while Kokta earned the Bears' second straight-set victory with a 6-4, 6-2, win over Rivera at the No. 4 slot. Dorsch clinched the win when he pulled off a 6-4, 6-4, victory over Posch at the No. 1 position. Dorsch entered the postseason ranked No. 2 nationally in singles play.
