Lincoln, Neb.--The No. 38 Nebraska women's tennis team fell to No. 16 Baylor, 5-2, Thursday, March 3, at the Woods Tennis Center. NU falls to 11-2 on the season.
Head Coach Scott Jacobson was pleased with the effort that his team showed.
"This is as hard as we have competed all year," Jacobson said. "We have to move forward to get better. Imke Reimers stepped up today. We competed well, and I couldn't be prouder. We need to bounce back and get ready to play a very good Oklahoma team on Saturday."
In singles, freshman Imke Reimers bounced back from a 5-1 deficit to take the first set, 7-6 (4). In a tight second set, Reimers took the tiebreaker, 7-4, to defeat Zuzana Cerna at the No. 2 slot. At the No. 5 slot, junior Pamela Castillejos won a three-set thriller, 7-5, 2-6, 10-6.
In doubles, although NU dropped the doubles point, junior Milena Schulz-Gartner and freshman Ellinor Zugner recorded their first win together, defeating Iva Mihaylova and Zuzana Krchanakova, 8-5, at the No. 3 slot.
Baylor improves to 7-2 on the season.
