Huskers Finish Sixth at Boise State Tournament

Boise, Idaho --- The No. 60 Nebraska men’s tennis team fell to Ball State, 4-3, in the fifth-place match Saturday at the Boise State Red Lion Spring Break Invitational. With the loss, NU dropped to 9-9 on the season and 2-2 on the week.

In singles play, the Huskers received strong production at the top of the order, as all three of NU's points came from Nebraska's No. 1, 2 and 3 slots. James Clow won in straight sets, 7-6, 6-2, over Laramore at the No. 2 slot while Jerry Posch and Jose Rivera, playing at No. 1 and 3, respectively, each needed three sets for the victory. Posch earned his third singles win of the week with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, come-from-behind win while Rivera added another point as he held on for a 6-4, 2-6, 6-2, victory over Anthony Epkey.

Nebraska dropped the doubles point as only Jose Rivera and Joerg Barthel picked up a win. The Husker duo earned a convincing 8-2 victory over Matt Laramore and Jeff Rhodes, while Nebraska's other tandems fell 8-4.

Nebraska returns to action on Tuesday, March 29, when the Huskers look for their first conference win of the season as they play host to conference foe Colorado. The Huskers and No. 43 Buffaloes begin play at the NU Varsity Courts beginning at 2 p.m.
