Huskers Down Drake 5-2

Des Moines, Iowa --- The No. 69 Nebraska men's tennis team got back on the right track as it dominated host Drake, 5-2, Saturday at the Drake Tennis Center.

The Huskers won the doubles point for the second straight match after winning it just once in their first seven matches. Joerg Barthel and Jose Rivera clinched the point with an 8-6 victory at the No. 2 slot, following an 8-3 win by Adrian Szatmary and James Clow at the No. 3 position.

Clow had a six-match win streak snapped as he fell at the No. 2 singles slot for the first time this season, dropping a tough 4-6, 7-6 (4), 10-4 loss to Dalibor Pavic. Clow's loss was offset by the Huskers' dominance in the bottom of the lineup, as Joerg Barthel and Jose Rivera picked up straight-set victories at the Nos. 5 and 6 slots, respectively.

Adrian Szatmary got back on the winning track with a solid 6-1, 2-6, 6-4, victory over Johnathan Tishler at the No. 3 position and Jerry Posch added a 6-4, 6-4, victory over Sergi Vila to pick up his fourth win at the No. 1 position this season.

"We are excited about this victory, as it was a team effort," said NU Coach Kerry McDermott. "We played well but we still have one more match to prepare for this weekend."

The Huskers return to the court Sunday, Feb. 20, when they take on Arkansas-Little Rock in Des Moines at 10 a.m.
