Lincoln --- The Nebraska men’s tennis team had six current players and two former letterwinners earn academic recognition as they were selected to the 2004 Big 12 Commissioner’s Fall Honor Roll released Friday.
Senior Jose Rivera led the way as he was named to the honor roll for the sixth time in his career. Along with Rivera, junior Jerry Posch and sophomore James Clow were members of the honor roll for the second straight semester. Posch, a news and editorial major, was one of 28 Husker student-athletes to earn a perfect 4.0 grade-point average in the fall.
Sophomore Sean Coetzee added his first career honor, as did newcomers Marcus Karner and Adrian Szatmary. Former letterwinners Ryan Jay (2001-04) and Jeff Nabity (2002-04) also were recognized as part of the fall academic honor roll while working toward completion of their undergraduate degrees at Nebraska.
The Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes who earned a 3.0 grade-point average or higher during the previous semester. Overall, Nebraska had 257 student-athletes named to the fall honor roll, including 28 who produced perfect 4.0 GPAs during the fall semester.
