Nebraska Lassos Wyoming, 7-0

Lincoln, Neb.?The No. 71 Nebraska women’s tennis team dominated Wyoming, 7-0, Friday Jan. 28 at the Woods Tennis Center, improving NU's home non-conference winning streak to 57 matches.

Nebraska Head Coach Scott Jacobson was very pleased with his team's performance, as the Huskers moved to 3-0 on the season heading into Sunday's match against Southwest Missouri State.

"The doubles play was just amazing," Jacobson said. "The doubles really set the tone, they gave us confidence. Now we need to focus on a good Southwest Missouri State team on Sunday."

The Huskers outscored the Cowgirls 24-7 in doubles play. Seniors Katie Garcia and Gitte Ostermann continued their perfect season at the No. 1 slot defeating UW's Corina Lazar and Amy Senko, 8-2. The team of junior Ewelina Skaza and freshman Imke Reimers posted their third doubles win as Huskers in the No. 2 doubles slot, winning 8-5, over Karolina Rowinski and Patricia Chien.

On the singles court, NU, which is ranked No. 1 in singles play in the ITA Central Regional rankings, did not lost a single set throughout the day. Ostermann, ranked No. 19 nationally in singles, defeated Lazar, 6-1, 6-0, while Skaza only dropped one game, 6-1, 6-0, win over Senko.

Nebraska hits the courts again on Sunday, Jan. 30, to close out January against Southwest Missouri State at the Woods Tennis Center at 10 a.m.

Wyoming fell to 0-1 after their first match of the season.
