Rifle Opens Season with Victory

Lincoln ? The Nebraska rifle team opened the season Friday with a 4,614 to 4,559 victory over the Air Force Academy.  After narrowly edging the Falcons 2,288 to 2,287 in smallbore, the Huskers turned in a strong performance in air rifle, outshooting Air Force 2,326 to 2,272.

 

Sophomore Kristina Fehlings shot a 582 in smallbore to set the pace for the Huskers in the team competition, and freshman Kim Chrostowski shot a 584 to lead the Nebraska squad in air rifle.

 

Air Force’s Christopher Hill turned in the top overall smallbore score, shooting a 583 and recording a 95 in the finals to finish with a score of 678.  Junior Misty Chanek was the top individual finisher for Nebraska in the event, recording an overall 675.

 

Fehlings shot the top score in air rifle, finishing with a 686.  Husker shooters held the top five spots in air rifle in a dominant performance.

 

The two teams will compete again Saturday beginning at 8 a.m. at the NU Rifle Range.
