The event begins at 6 p.m., with an alumni match that features many former Husker standouts. In all, nine of Nebraska’s 23 All-Americans will be on hand for the best-of-three match that features Husker players from all four decades of the program’s existence. A complete list of former Huskers scheduled to attend is listed below.

At 7 p.m., fans will have an opportunity to get their first look at the 2004 Huskers, as the nation’s second-ranked team will take the Coliseum court for a scrimmage. It is the Huskers’ only public scrimmage before opening the season at No. 25 Notre Dame on Sept. 3-4.

The Huskers return a strong nucleus from a team that finished 28-5 and ranked 13th in the final 2003 AVCA poll. In all, NU welcomes back five starters, including All-American middle blocker Melissa Elmer and first-team All-Big 12 outside hitter Jennifer Saleaumua. Other returning letterwinners include senior Ally Rebholz, junior Michelle Lynch, sophomores Dani Busboom, Kelsey Fautsch, Christina Houghtelling, Dani Mancuso and Amanda McCormick along with redshirt freshman Emily Schroeder.

In addition, the Huskers also welcome the nation’s top recruiting class, including Canadian National Team member Sarah Pavan, U.S. National Team member Tracy Stalls and All-Nebraska honoree Meghan Smith.

Saturday’s match will be the first opportunity for fans to see new features at the NU Coliseum, including a ring of honor highlighting all of Nebraska’s All-Americans and award winners. In addition, fans are invited to witness a special ceremony between games two and three of Saturday’s scrimmage.

The Huskers were picked to win the Big 12 in the preseason coaches poll earlier this month. Elmer was chosen as the preseason Big 12 Player of the Year, while Pavan was tabbed as the league’s co-freshman of the year.
