Huskers Hope to Improve after Spartan Invitational

Salinas, Calif. - The Nebraska women's golf team will have two weeks off to work on their game after struggling at the Spartan Invitational on Tuesday-Wednesday, March 2-3. The Huskers placed 15th in a field of 17 teams.

"We had another tough day today," Head Coach Robin Krapfl. "Luckily, now we have a couple of weeks. We really need to get on the range and work hard on our games. We need some repetition and a lot of practice. This is a hard working group so I know they will do just that."

The Huskers' lowest round of the tournament was a score of 310 in the second. Captain Stephanie Schaefer (Columbus, Neb.) started off the tournament solid with a score of three above par-72 in the first round. The senior closed with a three-round score of 233 to finish in a tie for 47th.

UCLA won the team and individual titles by compiling a team total of 858. Three of the Bruins' players placed in the top four spots with Charlotte Mayorkas in the top spot with a five-under par-72 in the second round and an even-par 72 in the first and third rounds.

Nebraska will travel to Boerne, Texas for the Tapatio Spring Shootout, hosted by Baylor, on Friday-Sunday, March 19-21 schedule for a shotgun start at 8 a.m. central time.
